Businessman attacked at home in Kolkata; Stabbed multiple times

A businessman, Malek Molla, was attacked with a sharp weapon at his home in Bhatiapota, Leather Complex, South 24 Parganas, around 7 AM on Wednesday. According to police sources, an unidentified man arrived on a bike shortly after Molla received a phone call. Within minutes, neighbors heard loud screams from inside the house. By the time they entered, the attacker had already fled. The injured businessman was rushed to a private hospital in Kolkata, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical.

The Kolkata Leather Complex police station received information about the attack and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. Investigators have started questioning family members and local residents to determine if the attack was linked to business rivalry or an old dispute. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the area and analyzing Molla’s phone records for possible leads. No arrests have been made so far, and the identity of the attacker remains unknown.

The incident has triggered concern among residents, with many demanding stricter security measures in the area. A police official stated, “We are exploring all possible angles and working on multiple leads.” Authorities have registered a case and intensified searches to track down the suspect. Security has been heightened in Bhatiapota, and additional police patrols have been deployed to maintain order.
